The
properties of activated carbon can be categorized as physical
properties, chemical properties and adsorptive properties. All
of them are very important for selecting and using activated carbon.
The
primary physical properties are shape, appearance, specific surface
area, pores volume, density, mesh, particle size, abrasive resistance
and floating rate, etc.
The
primary chemical properties are PH value, ash content, moisture,
ignition point, uncarbonized matters, sulphides, chlorides, cyanides,
sulphates, acid solubles, alcohol solubles, iron content, zinc
content, Pb content, Ca & Mg content, heavy metal and phosphates,
etc.
The
primary adsorptive properties are methlyene blue adsorption, iodine
value, phenol adsorption value, carbon tetrachloride adsorption,
molasses adsorption, quinine sulfate adsorption, saturated sulphur
capacity, hydrogen sulfate breakthrough capacity, water adsorption,
service life against chloroethane vapor and ABS value, etc.
